pet transport process
The Sterling Pooch is a pet transportation company that greatly appreciates those clients who wish to know the process upfront and want no surprises regarding their loved pets. We are the premier provider of pet transportation services.
what to expect
Our clients can expect honesty and transparency before, during, and after their pet transport. Clients will have cell phone access to their pets Transporter in case of questions or if needing a quick reassurance. Please note that our Transporters do not text while driving. Text messages will be responded to at the next comfort stop.
before pickup
After the signed contract and deposit have been received…
- A Pet Profile will be emailed requesting information on your pet, including vaccination history, the feeding schedule, and medication instructions.
- A Travel Supplies checklist will be included to assist in packing for the safety and comfort of your pet.
- A few days before pickup, a Text message thread will be established between you and your pet’s Transporter. The finalization of pickup time, date, and place will be decided.
- One day before picking up, your pet’s Transporter will send a text message verifying the time and place of pickup and answer any questions you may have.
day of pickup
- You will receive a text message from your pet’s Transporter when they are approximately 15 minutes from your location.
- Your pet’s Transporter arrives, collects the original Health Certificate or vaccination records (including rabies vaccination history), and packs your pet’s supplies.
- The Transporter will take the time for a meet and greet with your pet before heading out on their grand adventure. This meeting will help the Transporter understand your pet’s personality, and your pet will get to know the Transporter while still in the comfort of your presence.
enroute
- At least twice daily, you will receive wellness texts and pictures of the places your pet has visited during that day’s travel.
- Dogs will be walked, double-leashed, every 3-4 hours. Cats will always have a litter box inside their crate. The litter box will be refreshed at each comfort stop.
- Water will always be available inside your pet’s crate. Food and medication will be given as directed.
- Your pet will enjoy its own bed (or the Transporter’s bed) during its overnight stay in pet-friendly hotels.
day of delivery
- Your pet’s Transporter will text you with an approximate estimated time of arrival. A more accurate arrival time will be established the closer the Transporter is to your location.
- Pictures will be taken of the happy reunion between you and your pet. These pictures will be shared with you and on our social media platforms (only if the photo waiver was initialed on the contract).
- Your pet’s supplies will be unloaded, and the original Health Certificate or vaccination history will be returned to you.
- Your pet’s Transporter will give your pet final hugs (we get attached) and be off to the next adventure.
